Sucralose is a high-quality intense heat-stable sweetener developed by the English company Tate & Lyle in 1976. Sweeteners based on sucralose have a pleasant sweetness, their taste is indistinguishable from the taste of sugar, they dissolve well in water. A huge plus of sucralose is its stability during heat treatment (pasteurization and sterilization used in the manufacture of preservation).

Consumption rates

Of course, an overdose of any product can be harmful to health. That is why it is important to follow the rules of the "permissible daily allowance". To do this, you need to buy only those products on the label of which the type of sweetener and its weight are indicated. Experts advise giving preference to tablet forms, as they provide the most accurate accounting of sweet milligrams. The maximum daily intake of sucralose is 5 mg per 1 kg of body weight. Even the most inveterate sweet tooth can easily fit into this framework - after all, sucralose is 600 times sweeter than sugar, and therefore the taste effect is achieved with the help of minimal amounts of this sweetener.

Metabolism

The human body excretes about 85% of the consumed sucralose, absorbing only 15%. But what is absorbed is excreted from the body during the day. That is, sucralose does not linger in the human body. It cannot enter the brain, cross the placental barrier in pregnant women, or pass into breast milk. Doses of this sweetener do not interact with other nutrients and do not promote insulin release.

Sucralose does not break down in the body, has virtually no calories, and does not cause dental caries.

The results of these studies have been reviewed by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and other international health authorities. As a result, daily consumption of sucralose in drinks and foods is approved by the World Health Organization. Experts say that the use of this sweetener is safe not only for the usual contingent, but also for pregnant women, children of the younger age group and patients with diabetes.

What's more, environmental studies have shown that sucralose is fully biodegradable and non-toxic to fish and aquatic life.
